Hello
I'm Dallas Lorio, MA, CCC-SLP, and I am so excited to meet you and your child. I believe that communication is a fundamental human need, and I love working with children to help them express themselves and connect with the people and activities that they love. I believe that speech and language therapy sessions should be positive, efficient and FUN.
My Story
I was born and raised in Washington, and graduated from WWU the first time around with a degree in Biology. After college, my husband and I joined the Peace Corps and spent 2 years in the Dominican Republic working in agriculture (and learning Spanish, which I still understand pretty well and speak a little). When we returned, my first career was as a certified Montessori Early Childhood teacher. I loved the Montessori philosophy and working with the 3-6 age group, but I was really fascinated with how much difference I was seeing in my students that were going to speech and language therapy. When my own son was late to talk, and then when he did start talking but with a stutter, I started researching more about speech and language development to support him. I kept wanting to learn more! I went back to school and graduated from Western Washington University with a MA degree in Speech Language Pathology in 2021. Coming from a neurodivergent family, and having many people who stutter in my family, those were natural areas of interest for me. I have been actively pursuing more education and training in treating stuttering, supporting gestalt language processors, supporting language and communication for autistic children, and providing sensory support for autistic and ADHD children. I started Little Bird Speech and Language to really focus on providing the best possible care for clients needing those types of support and to fill a need in our community for families that are seeking neurodiversity affirming care.

I truly enjoy what I do, and I love working with "neurosparkly" clients. My goal is to support all my clients and their families in finding joy and connection.
